Qualifications

Neasa graduated in 1998 from UCD, with an honours degree in Physiotherapy. In 2006, Neasa completed a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy at Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia, where she graduated first in her class. Neasa received the Sports Medicine Australia Award for clinical excellence and Elsevier Australia Award for academic excellence across all Master of Physiotherapy classes. Neasa also received an award for best postgraduate research project, following on from her Masters degree. In 2009, Neasa completed a postgraduate certificate in health research from Lancaster University.

Neasa has worked primarily in sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy in both the public and private sectors for several years. She then took up the post of Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Orthopaedic Triage at Galway University Hospitals for a further 8 years. She also ran her own private practice and worked part time for a number of years as a Lecturer on the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Programme at University of Limerick. She has also been involved as a Lecturer and Board Member on the Master of Sports Medicine programme at NUI Galway. Since 2008, Neasa has also developed and run post graduate education courses for physiotherapists.

Neasa is a keen sportsperson having run a number of marathons and played soccer with Ashe Rovers and Colga ladies soccer teams. Neasa has been team physiotherapist for a number of teams including the Irish Basketball team, Australian Ladies hockey and the Australian Water Polo teams. She has also worked with Croí marathon teams to the New York and London marathons.

Neasa uses the latest research and evidence to guide her treatments. Neasa has a number of publications in International peer reviewed journals. Neasa’s research interests include shoulder dysfunction and lower limb injury prevention strategies. In 2009 and again in 2014 Neasa was awarded specialist membership of the ISCP in the area of musculoskeletal physiotherapy in recognition of her commitment to the pursuit of excellence.
